It doesn't get any better than beachside campsites where you can fall asleep listening to the sound of the waves

crashing against the shore. The Atlantic Campground is one of two campgrounds located in Fort Clinch State Park

in Amelia Island, Florida.

This is one of our favorite parks for biking and beach-combing. Camping under the stars makes us love it even more.  The park offers biking trails, hiking trails, a playground, tours of Fort Clinch, beach combing with lots of shark teeth, bike rentals, a store and cafe.

Fort Clinch drive twists and turns under canopies of old Live Oaks draped in Spanish Moss.  The road is dappled in sunlight and shadows. Fort Clinch Drive is lined with  tall sand dunes, a light house, and beautiful scenery.

Camping spots are hard to come by but are reservable a year in advance. We like to camp here the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve.

On our honeymoon camping trip, we brought along these leftover flower petals from our wedding.

A beautiful place to look for shells.

A Merry Christmas from the beach

This tree has special meaning and we visit it every time on we're on the island. It's near the playground, across the street from the fort.

I may, or may not, have consumed a campfire cocktail before I took this photo, but it's perfect for showing the bathrooms at the campground.  I am not ashamed to admit that these bathrooms are cleaner and nicer than my bathroom at home. Don't judge.

Good living right here! Wish this was ours, but it's not.
